Over £23,000 was raised at
the Giving Hope Sunday Lunch
Event attended by more than
300 guests at the
Renaissance Hotel, Heathrow.
The money raised will be
donated to TCF (The
Childrens Foundation)
towards the building of a
school for poor children.
The event was opened by
Imtiaz Mazhary who welcomed
the guests, and gave a brief
update on the work done by
Giving Hope. This was
followed by a short recital
from the Holy Quran by Dr
Mobin Salahuddin.
Host Rehan Babar (ARY
Digital TV fame) introduced Imtiaz Dossa (TCF)
who appraised the audience
on TCF's pioneering efforts to
provide schools in urban
slums and rural areas of
Pakistan.
Rehan Babar spoke briefly
about the fund-raising work
he has done since the
October 2005 Earthquake and
about his current project,
in association with TCF, to
build a school in Khanewal
(near Lahore).
The well-known and renowned
broadcasting personality,
Azmat Bajwa hosted an
auction of various items.
Adam Khan, the young
up-and-coming A1 Grand Prix
driver was also present and
offered some items for auction.
Jay Kumar's Bollywood Dance
Troupe entertained the
audience with an array of
exciting dance and bhangra
routines.
Rehan Babar performed a
couple of tracks from his
latest album, and was joined
on stage for one of his
numbers by Jay Kumar's
troupe.
A musical feast was provided
by Asif Raza and his
musicians who sang popular
ghazals and filmi tunes, and
numbers requested by the
audience.
The guests enjoyed a
delicious feast of excellent
and very tasty food provided
by Sapna Catering.
